A Birthday Gift For Mom

This is the following conversation I had with my daughter in the car:

Taylor:  Mom are we going to go shopping for a gift for your birthday?

Me: I don't know.  Why are you going to use your money to buy me a gift?

Taylor:  No!  That is what Dad's money is for!

Zach pipes in:  I am just going to have Dad pick something up for me to give mom.

I agree we should always use dad's money to buy things for mommy!!  Wait...that is my money too!  Zach obviously has already mastered that whole delegation thing.

I LOVE YOU MOM!

A conversation with my son:

Preface:
Those of you who know our family, know that Ryan, my husband, is like the kids' favorite person in the whole world! He is literally a rock star at home! When he comes home from work, the kids freak out w/ happiness!! When he talks - you can often her a penny drop -they are so quiet with rapture. There is no bigger fan of his then my son, Zach. In my effort to be a better mom and develop a better relationship with my son, I have been trying to spend more time with him and hug him often and tell him that I love him. This following conversation represents the progress I have made. I am tucking him into bed at night:

Me: Good night sweetheart, I love you.

Zach: Good night mom.

Me: Hey, did you tell me you loved me today?

Zach: No, I did that yesterday

Me: When you love someone you tell them everyday, so they won't forget

Zach: (quiet for a few seconds) Everyday is a lot.

Me: People need to hear it a lot.

Zach: Mom, I saw this thing on TV and you push a button and I talk into it and then you push another button and it repeats what I said. It was like $24.99 or something. Maybe $19.99. ( I am assuming that he is talking about a recorder) We should get it. Then I don't have to say it all the time and you can hear it all the time.

Me: That sounds like a great solution Zach. (I exit his bedroom, trying not to laugh)

At this point, I am thinking that maybe I can find a Ryan mask that I can put it on so my son, Zach will tell me he loves me all the time and act like he adores me! Just kidding, but I tell you kids say the funniest things. It is hard living in the shadow of a rock star like Ryan Lifferth!

Freedom of the Seas

Ryan and I took a 7 day cruise down to Mexico in March. We dropped the kids off at my dad's house and spent the week: Sightseeing, catching up on Zzzz, hot tubbing, and eating way too much food. We tried to work out a lot so we wouldn't gain any weight, but it was a lost cause! I was sad when it was over. I hadn't finished my book, my tan was inadequate, and I still wanted someone to make my bed, fix my meals, and wash my towels. Every night our stateroom attendant would fold towels in the shape of different animals. We had a great time with our friends Kamaile and Puna! I spent half the time laughing. The boat we were on was beautiful. There was a rockwall and activities everywhere. We didn't have time to do everything, but it was a relaxing vacation and one we hope to do again. I will post some more pics later of our adventures.

Stacie's Race

Ryan took the boys down to Stacie's race at BYU. We are so proud of her. She had a great race on a gorgeous spring day. They had a great time hanging out with cousins and playing right by the track.
